The AGL/Meridian joint venture wind farm development was given the royal seal of approval from His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Denmark on Friday during an inspection of the site in western Victoria.

Today the Clean Energy Future legislative package has been passed in the Senate, without amendment, and will become law from 1 July 2012.
The Clean Energy Future package will introduce a fixed price on greenhouse gas emissions from FY2013, starting at $23/tonne, and increasing each year before transitioning to a floating price emissions trading scheme in 2015. It is estimated that the scheme will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 160 million tonnes by 2020, and will enable Australia to meet its bipartisan target and international commitment to cut emissions by 5% compared to 2000 levels by 2020.
